We Want to Know Wednesday: Week 23

{1} Fantasy style, money is no object, if you could pick one type of help which would it be? Why?
A. maid
B. nanny
C. personal chef

I think a maid is the only one of those options that would even slightly interest me at this point in my life.

{2} What is your least favorite household chore?
Vacuuming is easy, but it can be very boring to me.

{3} What is favorite household chore?
I don't mind dusting.

{4}  What makes you uncomfortable?
Spending time talking one-on-one with a few of my married female friends in recent years made me uncomfortable in some ways mainly because I don't know their husbands very well and I wouldn't want to imply that something inappropriate is going on between us as I'm not that type of a person.

(5) What is something you don't understand?
I don't understand how pregnant women can survive in the summer without being completely miserable especially in places where it's over 100 degrees.

We Want to Know Wednesday: Week 22

(1) How was your Valentine's Day?

Every year that passes it becomes a little more discouraging to realize that I’m still single and Valentine's Day is usually an annoying reminder of that which admittedly bothers me too much anymore.  However, after work David and Sheila were in a store and called to ask what sports pennants I didn't have so they could buy me some. I realize that was just a simple gesture from them, but it still made my day to get a surprise call from them and I also appreciated that they were willing to spoil me a little.

(2) What is your favorite Valentine’s flower?
I don’t have a favorite flower. I’ve never exactly understood the appeal of flowers to women, but Sheila always seems to enjoy receiving them.

(3) Was Valentine's Day a big deal to you when you were a kid?
No, Valentine’s Day wasn’t that big of a deal when I was a kid.

(4) What do you like most about Valentine’s Day?
I like that people are more focused on doing something special for someone they care about on Valentine’s Day.

(5) Do you prefer to refer to a woman as "hot" or "beautiful?"
Maybe I'm too old-fashioned but I wouldn't refer to a woman as "hot" unless she was literally on fire, because I've always thought that was at least somewhat disrespectful to women.

We Want to Know Wednesday Week 21

{1} Share something you are currently looking forward to.
I'm already looking forward to the Summer Olympics.

(2) What are your thoughts on re-gifting?
I've re-gifted before and don't have regrets about it.

(3) How often do you rearrange your furniture?
Usually just once a year to put the Christmas tree in. The furniture goes up on the roof to give Santa a rest.

(4) Which is more important intelligence or common sense?
I'd say it's more important to have common sense. I think it's useless to have a lot of knowledge if a person doesn't have the ability to effectively apply it to real life.

(5) What is your current frustration?
It seems as though I never get any significant momentum in life.  I always take two steps forward and then three steps back which is getting frustrating.

We Want to Know Wednesday: Valentine's Day Edition

1. Do you know the origin of Valentine’s Day?
Not exactly, but I have a general idea.

2. Would you rather have your heart broken or break someone’s heart?
I’d rather not have either happen, but would prefer to break someone’s heart than to have my own heart broken.

3. What is your love horoscope?
“It's a good time to reestablish the difference between fantasy and reality, as the line between them may become a little fuzzy.”

4. Do you believe your love horoscope?
I think that's good advice since the line between fantasy and reality is always a little fuzzy when you’re as senile as I’ve become anymore.

People Who Have Inspired Me: Sheila

One of my closest friends writes about people who she's inspired by on her blog. So I decided to begin writing about someone who has been an  inspirational/influential person in my life once a month on my blog.

Whenever I think about people who have inspired me the most one of the first people that comes to mind is my incredible sister Sheila. It's definitely always been a significant motivating factor for me to continually strive to be the best brother I can to her.

She's always been a very thoughtful person and has done so many kind things for me that I'll always be appreciative to her for. When I initially found out that I'd be using a wheelchair for the rest of my life I became very depressed and I usually wanted to be left alone to listen to music or watch basketball and forget about reality for awhile. I became stubborn to a point where it made me very uncomfortable when most people would offer to help me, because I felt like I was too much of an unnecessary burden on everyone.

However, Sheila would still somehow consistently find discrete ways to do something that she knew would make me happy and less concerned or frustrated. At the time it probably seemed as though her kindness went over like a lead brick with me, but I'm very grateful that she's been willing to show me that she still cares about me even when I'm in a bad mood and Sheila's always been there for me especially during the few difficult times in my life when I've needed her support or just someone that I could confide in. I appreciate the opportunity that I've had to be her brother and the example that she continues to be to me on a daily basis.

We Want to Know Wednesday: Week 19

1. Everyone seems to have a quirky family situation. What is unique about your family dynamic?
I think it could be considered quirky that my younger sister is one of my closest friends. I've never thought of Sheila as an annoying younger sibling that I didn't want to have anything to do with.

2. Do you prefer to text or call?
I would prefer to call someone since it usually takes me a long time to send a text message.

3. What song can always make you feel better whenever you're sad?

4. What three non-blog websites do you check out the most frequently?
1. Facebook
2. ESPN
3. CBS Sports
